I would also think that it's easier to build a mobile app/social network that competes with Facebook than it is to build a mobile OS/device that competes with Android/iOS.

websites are an experience good. build some sliver of your vision to test the water. eventually youre gong to have to build your product, so any time spent doing something other than that is waste. just do it. youll be happy you did

for me its not noise, its availability. a closed office door means "I'm not available" and people generally respect that. headphones don't convey that same message, so those of us without offices really have no way to broadcast "i'm busy do

I wouldn't even call it lazy, I call it efficient. Google makes email management easy so I can focus on something more interesting and hopefully more beneficial to my peers.

This is pretty cool, I just gave it a test drive. At scale the global pool would probably get really noisy. The tracking thing helps, could the posts be arranged by subject? Do comments impact the order of the posts?

Get a job. You'll actually learn more working than you will at grad school. The Harvards and Whartons of the world want applicants with industry experience anyway, so worst case scenario you go back and get a masters in 3-5 years.
