There's a huge difference between "all wrong" and "has some fundamental assumptions that could lead to non-optimal results if you wanted to push the results even further". The former implies, upon initial reading of

I'm not convinced they're as much jokes as real concerns by people who have already been burned by this (see: YouTube -- I'm not going to argue about whether or not G+ integration has made these products better, but it's

I think you're missing his/her point. The problem nostromo has is not proprietary formats but social networks. I think the worry is updates like "John Doe turned the temperature in his house to 75!" (and while that fear

This is a reddit-level shitty comment. Unless you agree that the CIA has no right to exist (and you'd be insane [one of the nicest words I can think to put here] to think so), I fail to see why it's bad that the government would c

You make it sound like one has to give up the money aspect of a CS job to get the "cool environment with cool people." I would argue that a good developer or sysadmin should be able to land a job with both. I certainly have one wi

The online problem sets for the Caltech course aren't what you get in real life when the course is being actively offered, and also it was a pretty basic/easy course. That's not to say there aren't other hard classes onl

I don't see how firing underperformers and other dead weight is evidence of a lack of long-term strategy. To me that sounds like a good first step in a long-term solution of making Yahoo! once again a place that talented people work.

Any amount of paranoid ridiculousness can be justified after the fact by some sort of big incident. It's how we justify the PATRIOT act after 9/11 and how one might justify Stallman's actions after the NSA leaks. That doesn&#
