This sounds pretty interesting. Can you share a link to your work or livestream?

If I were Apple, I'd leverage this in content licensing negotiations.

I would also have appreciated a version that's compatible with a non-latest macOS release. Then again, this app was written with SwiftUI, which hasn't received some handy features before macOS 12 and is still way behind AppKit. Wh

Not surprising at all. Their website already looked like Apple. Jokes aside, this has been long overdue. Hope the products will survive somehow.

The experience is quite similar with DHL when you have a non-standard question. The chatbot is utterly useless and there is no way to contact a human being if you're not a business customer.

What a German thing to say. How is this different from "I don't have anything to hide"?

No. Once a writer connects to a DuckDB database file, it does not allow any other. SQLite always lets you connect additional reader (and writer) processes. You do not run into any locks until you execute write transactions concurrently.

DuckDB only supports either one read+write client or arbitrary read clients with no writer. This is the biggest blocker for adopting it in a real-world hosted app. Rel: https://duckdb.org/docs/connect/concurrency.h

I use empty rolls of toilet paper (the inner cardboard part) as cable ties. They bundle ~2-3 short & thin cables and nicely fit in a drawer in upright position. This way, you can easily spot the connector types from bird‘s eye perspecti

Just because the Impressum law exists, it doesn't mean it is a good thing… The new requirement adds unnecessary friction, not value, to new exploratory projects on the App Store.

Sure, but I‘d rather have a linter detect this kind of code smell automatically if it provides a reasonable explanation to the author. In my experience, a fairly strict non-aesthetic linter setup makes mentoring much more efficient.

I found an excellent job during the pandemic in fall 2020. A handful of interesting folks reached out after my "Who Wants To Be Hired" post. One of them clicked especially well. It became the best matching job I ever had.

It feels like Type 1 is the “yes” type, and Type 2 is the “yes, but” or “no” type. Saying “yes” is easy, everything else not so much. Personally, Type 2 resonates with me, but I can see how this can be generally conflated with pessimism.
