It is fairly common practice for someone accused of a crime for the first time to be Released on their Own Recognizance (ROR) without bail. I could easily see a system where you are outfitted with an ankle monitor with GPS and a radio beaco

Just from experience, 20% is the very low end but if your hitting 28-30% then that's too high. I do agree with your overall statement. Source: being a fast food manager at a big chain for many years.

I appreciate your candor, it seems like you transitioned from indignation to resignation in the course of a few comments. I bet that happens often. I consider myself lucky to be a citizen of the US, but I recognize the propaganda and lies.

I often felt that 19th century law was usually more humane. I mean, yes human rights were violated on a racial, cultural and financial basis, but if you were in the in-group then you actually had rights. It seems like once we started earnes

This might not be a popular opinion, but I feel that plea bargains are the result of an overextended legal system. The war on drugs has overburdened our courts with cases which should not exist in the first place. Imagine how many less case

Code is far from the only way to contribute. Documentation (read good technical writing) is what is missing in most good, lesser known open source projects. Most projects I have seen are almost overly-welcoming of good contributions to thei

Our system was developed with an eye towards penitence (this started with Eastern State penitentiary in Pennsylvania). Forced penitence is a flawed concept to begin with which renders our penal system almost ineffectual in its current state

Awesome! Thank you for taking the time to respond. I will try to refrain from criticizing the project until I am more familiar. The next time I interact with this project will be on github, my username there is the same as it is here.
