Good work Apple. To give some balance to a press release... I wonder what all that tax avoided money could have bought in society, and what the 3 billion 30% cut they took from developers could have done for those developers. Better apps? C

'Poaching' makes workers sound like slaves owned by a company. People are not owned by companies, it's the other way around. They are not illegally hired, so poaching is incorrectly used.

Yeah, music is another style of communication. The industrialisation of music has destroyed a really joyful way for people to express themselves and to communicate with people around them. When musical literacy is lacking in a person it is

I've seen this in various circles. People seem to be getting used iphones pretty cheap. Some of them even buy apps.

Yeah, even in-memory processes can be sped up by compression/decompression. When you're not running entirely in cache, which many old games can be done. Doom 1+2 (including all the data) can be entirely loaded into modern high end

Very nice article! :) Storing types via traces could be another step for gathering types. As well as using the more advanced static type checking code that is around for python. Now I have something to work through on the weekend. Looking f

SSH does it's own flow control, and with HPN-SSH it is much better. Also, if your connection to the VPN host is quite good, then the TCP-over-TCP issue does not apply as much. The bad cases happen when that connection has packet loss.

Comparing multiple implementations is a great way to find bugs. Even running the same code with different compilers or platforms helps find bugs. It doesn't find cases where they are both wrong, but often finds cases where one of them

Over 12 years, if you study & practice an extra 2 hours per day you will have studied the equivalent of 365 days for 24 hours per day, or 1095 days at 8 hours per day. That's about a whole bachelors degree worth of study. That'

There was over a year of dev time effort put into this optimisation by a team of people. I think the effort of my optimisation would cost less time and effort, and give better results. It would also waste less Editor time. Mediawiki already

Sure. However, the method I mentioned can be done with zero extra server load if done correctly. I've done this before with other editors, and it definitely did not take a team 12 months to complete. It is a full stack optimisation how

For games, other soft realtime, and run once code, pypy is slower. The newer GC is better, but the JIT still causes pauses. The slow warm up of the jit, no type hint saving, and slower interpreter is why it is not good on run once code. Of
