please read the thread again. The parent said “it is not a high bar to own a website where a user is entering personal data”. I strongly disagree, although “high” is obviously not measurable. Maybe I should again be more specific, again. hi

Just wanted to check you really meant primary source. I don’t understand how you can learn anything then. News is off limits for you, history, sciences (unless you do the experiment yourself) as well. Math might be possible, at least you ca

The crazy thing to me is that if they are raising the price, it means there is too many users paying the current price – which is already very high. Maybe they’re right, let’s Broadcom this.

Let say I’m asking “what’s the latest in Hormuz?”. What is the primary source for this? For most things I research, there is only secondary sources, reporting on an event, a trend…

That article is not even two years old… “for a few years” make it sound like he saw it coming long before it started. He’s just describing a trend and its ineluctable destination. But I do agree it will be or already is a paradigm shift. An

I would definitely blame a VPN provider if: 1. Only a minority of users care about privacy 2. VPN provider still advertise for “privacy”, even though it only target a minority of users that care about it 3. VPN provider doesn’t deliver on s

I mean, there’s a lot of products out there marketed around privacy. I really doubt the HN readers are the sole source of income for all these products… I do agree, it’s a minority, but within the VPN using population, I don’t think it’s a

I need to test it, that reminds me, thanks. So many browsers. Does it support multiaccount containers?

Ok, what was his point then? “They don’t rely on it, so it’s useless to obfuscate it”, or “but you should keep obfuscating it” or something else? I am missing the relation to my original comment then.

That seems like a huge bet. I don’t bet on this, I am careful about cookies and my source IPs. Do you have any facts? I know they really on _additional_ stuff, but do you have sources showing that they never use cookies or source IPs?

You definitely need glasses then. Let me specify: The user must have entered his data on one site which the attacker has control of. That is a high bar still.

Well there is still the small detail of them not storing any logs. This is a massive issue in my view, it allows correlation across multiple VPNs exit nodes, but that’s it. It doesn’t allow to identify you automatically. It does significant

Yes, there is exaggeration going on. Nonetheless, it’s a fact it would have taken much longer without LLMs, I’d say all possible. I find this is a valid success story if you can look past the embellishments. More than that, it’s really cool
