If anyone wants to hack on this together, shoot me an email (email in my profile) I'm thinking of some...interesting uses for the data.

We're not on reddit and this story isn't hacker news. If you want to be charitable, there are much better ways to do so. Signups for the sake of an iPad are not in any way useful to this startup. You're actually hurting them by wasting the

Which of his points offend you? I found myself agreeing with many of the slides, and they seem to map pretty well to successful startups.

Even if you avoid fraud and the payment processors, the US government will almost certainly shut you down. They don't like competition. See e-gold,1mdc, Liberty Reserve,Phoenix Dollar, etc, etc - pretty much anyone who has tried to create an

I just sent you an email. I used to research the carding/malware scene I can probably answer all of your questions. It's not that easy to drain a bank account- which is why malware authors will typically sell bank account info in bulk for a

I agree, but then you have to make a distinction: Do you think Patrick is cool because of his exceptional SEO/business knowledge, or do you think Patrick is cool because he is active in the community? Two very different things.

I would argue he could derive tremendous financial benefit from posting here in terms of furthering his career, networking, consulting gigs, etc. I'm not saying that's the reason he posts here, but it is a tangible fringe benefit. Here's a

I was actually struggling with wording my post so it didn't look like an attack in any way, because I really don't mean to be negative at all. I'm not attacking Patrick at all! I think Patrick is a great guy! I think Patrick works very hard

I know the HN community looks up to Patrick as something of a "guru", and I have a tremendous amount of respect for him, the information he shares, and his contributions to the community. But... You know, there are lots of people out there

I think these clones are taking the concept way too far...having a total stranger call you every day saying "I miss you and I love you" is creepy and deranged. EDIT: It gets worse. Who would want to receive a random phone call of "I want to

This post makes so many wrong assumptions I don't have time to mention them all. Here are a few: 1. SuperAwesome makes $0.50 CPM from that one ad unit(probably a small rectangle). I'm sure they have multiple ad units on each page, so th

That site is nice, but they also want to charge me close to $2000 for a list of sites using a single technology, I could definitely do this myself for much less. Anyone want to build a free version with me?

I'm interested in the technology behind your crawler, you could potentially use it to discover many more things, like which sites use popular APIs etc. What language is it written in? What do you use for the backend/DB? How fast is it? I'm

You're absolutely right. I'm already seeing traffic shift away from (cheaper) long-tail keywords in my campaigns.

If nobody likes paying taxes then, why don't we as a society legislate ourselves lower taxes and cuts in defense spending? I believe there is a famous quote about that.

Not to nitpick, but indinero is anything but enterprise software, it's very targeted at small businesses. I think the sales funnel for indinero and enterprise software is totally different. Jessica definitely knows how to network though :)

I think it's really cool that Web 2.0 entrepreneurs actually want to build businesses that have a clear business model, sell a product that people want, and have a clear path to long-term, sustainable profitability. That said, I don't know

Right, all I was saying is that the majority of the _income tax_ you pay goes to military spending. I'm not counting FICA, as nobody is discussing raising or lower those taxes.

Maybe if more Americans knew how much we were spending on war they would be less inclined to support it. "Death and Taxes" is a well-known and clear infographic of government spending: http://www.wallstats.com/deathandtaxes/ It shows mili

I just want to point out that most of the taxes you pay in the US do not go to the upkeep of society you may benefit from (which we can define as schools, police, education, etc). Most of your tax money either goes to propping up a bloated

Heh, I know people who are working on breaking reCaptcha. Maybe they should get together and learn from each other. If you're saying that it's possible to prevent manual, outsourced captcha solving, I would have to strongly disagree. It's s
