Why is that? Jira github integration is nice and simple.

I highly disagree with this. I use both terminal multiplexers and browsers with split window functionality for portability reasons. I use multiple operating systems in different environments and can't rely on a tiling window manager in

Have any details on how you've implemented Nix? For my personal projects I use nix without docker and the results are great. However I was always fearful that nix alone wouldn't quite scale as well as nix + docker for complicated

The only thing missing from Griffith is the ocean. On a super clear day you can see the ocean but 9/10 times you see can only see a little past downtown. It is definitely the most iconic and can't miss view, but Baldwin Hills is l

Baldwin Hills is my favorite part of LA. Historically rich African American neighborhood. Tons of great views, really good location overall in LA. Nice access to LAX, the water and downtown isn't too far. And of course tons of oil derr

Recently been diving into Nix, elixir, gleam and F#. Heavily agree with you. One benefit of Elixir or Gleam is the friendly syntax and style that makes things easier to digest. That helps me quickly apply things to new situations. Nix is li

Sorry late reply, Yes it is annoying to maintain 2 separate environments, but it's also not my end goal. A perfect solution for me would be a spec that is IDE agnostic, but also works as a VSCode dev container, all from a common source

Recently went from using devcontainers to nix-shell. But in every new project I include instructions for both nix-shell + direnv as well as dev containers, so people can fully ignore nix if they choose. A form of this which mixes devcontain

You'd probably love gleam. Elixir ecosystem dwarfs it at this point, but the syntax and design choices are just phenomenal.

True, but you kind of get to introduce what you want as long as it's popular and well backed. Even if I know a tool or language is better suited for a task, I always prioritize my employer's ability to maintain that project over t

A lot of that I think was rooted in low self-esteem. Which is something I still struggle a lot with. The mind is very powerful. At my last job I stepped up to head of engineering after our CTO resigned, and never got a raise. In my mind I d

I understand your point, but not sure I would accuse those that misinterpret these things of lying. Many people are educated enough to know that the massive explosion in human advancement was heavily fueled by exploitation of some kind. The

I adore livebook and very much agree, elixir and gleam are both amazing, which makes choosing one for a specific task even harder. I keep a livebook running 24/7 on my home server, so I can always try out snippets anywhere. Gleam'

Tried that route, and while it is quite viable in 2024, I reverted to dual booting. I can turn on my computer to work or to play games, and those two environments are completely separate. Nvidia terrible corporation, but similar with Apple
