The data shows the median net worth is around 100k. I'm very suspicious of claims about what the average American can afford based on surveys. Often they ask people how they would pay for something, and if the answer is "credit ca

I haven't seen them restrict anything yet. They're not a marketplace, just hosting websites and taking payments, so they've typically been far more hands off than Amazon/eBay.

Amazon isn't comparing the regular price of the seller, but on the product level. Also, Amazon this week banned all offers, not just ones that were deemed to be price gouging. eBay did the same already more than a week ago.

To be specific, the market+price gouging laws+Amazon blocking listings because of those laws is suboptimal. If Amazon hadn't blocked the listings, and more to the point, if Amazon had been known to act reasonably in prior instances, th

Have you subtracted all the losses on the products that didn't sell? When I sold on Amazon, every so often I'd be able to 10X my money on a product, but it was rare and balanced out by the many more times that I would lose money o

It depends on the details. The recent NYT article about buying in stores and selling online mentioned that more than 50% of the sale price could be eaten up in shipping and other fees.

Several thoughts: 1. The point about them not actually making that much buying for $2 and selling for $20 is 100% valid. Amazon fees are $3, plus another $10 or so for shipping, plus labor, box, label, gas, etc. 2. On top of that, the busin

This doesn't explain why rates change. The delta can only ever be explained by people choosing to buy bonds instead of what they previously owned, or vice versa. Those people are definitely not trying never to lose any money at any cos
