Why put anything in front of it? I have never understood when people do this since Go has a fully working and production ready web server already build in. Is it to avoid the issue of running it as root?

I absolutely hate smartphones. A smartphone is like a laptop without a keyboard. I find them way too big to carry around and so annoying to use. I have an old-school dumb phone with a physical keypad. No, I do not in any way feel isolated.

What you need is dhcpcd. I use dhcpcd on Linux as well, rather than systemd-networkd. It's better and doesn't come with any hardcode Google or Cloudflare DNS servers as systemd-networkd does.
