As a native (American) English speaker, the original paragraph looks fine to me except for “IA”.

That theorem is not valid constructively, so no way to make a computer program out of it. I.e., there is no program that given types A, B and injections (f : A -> B) and (g : B -> A) produces a bijection A -> B.

You can join a tenants union to fight against your landlord. In the bay there’s TANC ( https://baytanc.com ) for example which I’m a member of.

Capitalism worked the same way under the gold/silver regime. Marx wrote Capital which explains this dynamic in the 1800s when that regime was in effect.

I understood the gist from context, but unentberlikhes, nebst, and forshrift were not understandable to me. The Yiddish words are very different. I’m not a native speaker, I think a native speaker probably would have understood forshrift fo

I like the reveal – I was wondering why the Yiddish of the book’s title seemed so weird!

(7, 8) and (8, 7) are not possible because: If x = 2 then clearly (x, y) is not (7, 8) or (8, 7) because 2 is not 7 or 8. If x = y then (x, y) is (7, 7) or (8, 8).

Interesting that the author felt the need to make an anti-communist comparison to describe a typical capitalist workplace.

I always found that particular convention incredibly gruesome and dystopian. The US genocided the native Americans and then use their names on their death machines they use for killing other people.

You don't have a choice in workplaces either. Basically all workplaces are run undemocratically.

I believe workers as a class should democratically control the economy so that production can occur for human need rather than profit of owners of capital. That's only possible if every workplace is organized along those lines, and wor

I mentioned in another comment but at O(1) Labs (which is VC-backed) we've had a board composed of employees for about a year. I'm not sure about the timing of your situation, but also I'm sure we're not the first compan

Great to read about. At O(1) Labs[^0] we've had a board that consists only of employees for about a year now. Employees who have been around for at least 1 year can run and vote. It's one-person-one-vote and we use Scottish Single

If you want to play around with zero-knowledge proofs, I work on a typescript DSL called SnarkyJS. It’s easy to pick up and runs in the browser. https://github.com/o1-labs/snarkyjs

To those who think tech workers don’t need unions: unions don’t have to be about wages. They are simply an association that lets us as workers deliberate and coordinate our actions. I think in tech they would be better used to help us contr

EA is bad because it in practice, as an actually existing movement, assumes capitalism as an immutable reality. The problem is that capitalism actually generates most of the problems they are worried about, so if they can’t address the root

Seems founded on a totally unmaterialist and unscientific understanding of how societies persist themselves. This is evident in Balaji’s fixation on the psychology of the individuals involved. E.g., saying intentional communities have faile

Those are all limited hang outs. Abuse is endemic in Hollywood, Weinstein and Bill Cosby were scapegoats. I’m sure things have continued as they did before a few people went to jail. Similarly with Epstein. Prince Andrew, Bill Clinton, Trum

Going to make a PR to add our company O(1) Labs. It’s very rare in that it’s VC-funded by prominent VCs, but still majority worker-owned and fully worker-governed. The board is composed of workers, selected by workers on the basis of one pe

I think the title/abstract are seriously overstating the result -- the validators still have to hold onto what is essentially the set of spent outputs, which grows linearly with the number of transactions processed by the system.
