I don't like the phrase "trust but verify". I believe it gives the wrong idea of how to handle people you depend on to accomplish things. "Delegate completely, verify periodically - and slowly build up trust when good results are repeatedly

Time rarely is the real problem. Fears, lack of energy, lack of focus, etc usually is what prevents people from doing things... And even when time is the issue, often stopping yourself from wasting time is an effective solution.
