Are you sure droids aren't modeled after CEOs? Unfortunately, there's no great way to say "we're firing 18% of all employees." If you're whimsical or casual, you'll be blasted for not taking these people's lives seriously. If you're gloomy

To be more accurate, a hacker claims that airplanes WILL BE vulnerable. I'm a little confused about how he claims to know this. Correct me if I'm wrong, but he hasn't seen the system in development or explored its security vulnerabilities.

Ooh this is embarrassing; the article was about click-through rates and not rankings. But maybe now is a good time to tell people how terrible the CTR data in WMT is. Also, are you sure the site was hit by Penguin? This doesn't look like th

This is the Daily Mail re-hashing a BBC article, but the BBC article kind of missed the point. That article hit the front page of HN about a week ago. Daily Mail's article was just amazingly shallow with no new information. Original paper:

Legally, Moz =/= Mozilla. Moz (SEOmoz) has the following trademark: http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=4808:tp... You can search the site for yourself. Aside from tires (for which there is no "likelihood of confusion") t

Rand built "exaggerated" characters, that's true. Unfortunately the style results in a bunch of cheesy straw men. The business leaders like Rearden are hard-working, smart, and good looking. The villains are stupid unattractive leeches, or

I'm something of a libertarian myself, but this is really stupid. Taking advantage of the infrastructure, market, and support of one country only to flee to a tax haven abroad is neither moral nor respectable. If this happens, it's going to

The differentiation between what Moz does and what SEOs do is both real and useful. Moz hasn't fit into the paradigm of "SEO" for a while, so it's best they don't call themselves an SEO tool company anymore. Interestingly, the same is true

Sorry, but not a chance in hell that Moz got hit by Penguin. 1) You can look at their links yourself, if you have any clue how Penguin works, and see that it's not even close to spammy enough to get hit by any Penguin algorithm. 2) Their ra

For those who don't know, this is a Google algorithm that has targeted SEO link spammers. I credit it for doing a lot of good in cutting down on spam and forcing SEOs to do less spammy stuff or go under.

I'd strongly disagree that it's not the CFO's job to foster and enhance company culture. If your CFO is a cost-cutting machine, I hope he's not highly compensated. Any qualified first-year accountant can do that job. It's a good CFO's job
