when i post weekend projects it usually is 1.5-2 weeks. It's not supposed to mean something for the time it took to develop, it's more of a generic term to describe something that is not finished. It's a warning to readers that they shouldn

I 'm happy for you ars technica and imma let you finish, but there are much more serious issues that facebook refuses to address. For example, look at this older post about how facebook irrationally banned adsense from their apps and refus

What I don't understand in the first place is why we want to create persistent sockets on top of a stateless, request-response protocol like HTTP. Sounds like a travesty to me.

Objective-C is basically C, so you have to deal with a lot of stuff that is usually hidden in scripting languages. I think he was referring to the fact that javascript code tends to become tangled like spaghetti.

But brands must be built on something, right? That's why google, facebook, twitter exist. It's a mutual relationship, facebook cannot go on screwing users, developers, advertisers, etc. for ever. At the moment, facebook's support gets an F-

That's not even news, everyone who has worked with facebook has the same issues. For such an understaffed company, that's not surprising. We have our domain banned from their spam filter before we even launched our game (really, it was just

Is there any chance - at some point - to create a new TLD that only registered trademark owners can use?

It's fun to take a look at the history of the trademark application here: http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&entry=7... It appears the first application was rejected (without a third party objecting), following amendment

AFAIK you can register a generic term provided no other body objects during the registration period or the term is not already in use in the relevant industry. I actually have no idea about how the law defines generic names, can anyone enli

Unpopular opinions more often than not are valid and uncomfortable truths, so they're likely to attract trolls and personal attacks. It's best to keep them down there, for those who are interested enough to browse all the threads.

When i am interested in the subject, i usually read ALL comments. Having them in order of popularity helps, but does not really discourage me from reading on. Scores don't really matter. There is a tendency for short comments to sink down,

Start with the assumption all comments are wrong; after all there's no absolute truth. The scores are a measure of popularity, which is often right and sometimes wrong. Plus everyone is entitled to an opinion. I don't think scores help anyt

That's what i'm saying, the real smart guys know better. I said opportunities are not as abudant as in the US, not that there's none of them (at some point the reverse will be true) . But it's also true that in the emerging economies ther

Sorry if i am being dense but you got me confused. It makes sense to add 2 rgb vectors from a perceptional standpoint: you add a red color on a green color you get a yellow. It also makes sense from a physical standpoint: the resulting f

It's also a matter of opportunity. People in the US consider opportunity a given. It's not so in most of the world, people may choose to educate themselves, even forcibly via repetition, because there may not even be other things to do, and

Maybe there's a good reason we like linear text: we are humans, we have with 1 stream of attention, we like to communicate serially and verbally. We don't usually "understand" a map, although we can memorize it, in contrast to a book which
