SEO has ruined search. It's so hard to find a website that isn't trying to sell you something. I tried searching for an explanation of an aspect of astigmatism correction and I couldn't get anything but thinly veiled ads for

I know the tech is a lot better, but is it really being used in enterprise?

by idontwantthis 5y ago
Does anyone here work with super expensive "enterprise" VR/AR? My gut instinct is that they try to make something good, realize the tech to fulfill their dream is incredibly expensive, then pivot to "enterprise" to

I just started getting into 20th century Italian film soundtracks for coding. I don't know why, but it's doing wonders for me.

$5-$20 for any amount is comparable or much less than almost any international transaction fee. If you're other option is transferring money out of the authoritarian country into your destination then this could be very attractive.

Industrial ethics can be about ensuring longterm success as well. If a journalist can’t be trusted to keep an off-the-record source unnamed then they will never get another story. They can tarnish their entire organization, so they don’t do

I tried fasting Tuesdays and Thursdays for a few weeks in college. A couple weeks after I stopped I had severe and sudden dizzy spells for months. I’m not willing to try again unless I go hand in hand with a doctor.

I keep getting shown very long and well produced videos of very complicated steak recipes where they end up horribly overcooking it or drowning it in conflicting flavors. Someone made a stew out of what looked like a $60 ribeye. My only con

The app is only available on Quest 2 and Vive Focus 3 at the moment, and Quest 2 is very capable for 1/3 the price. If Immersed is going to become widespread, it needs to focus on standalone headsets, so non-gamers can use it.

It's available on Vive Focus 3, the only other comparable standalone headset widely available in the US market that I'm aware of. FB is just way ahead of the field on standalone. Once everyone else catches up I'll be surprise

How long ago was that? 18 months ago it was too slow for most use, and it's made massive improvements since then.

The single screen experience in Immersed is also fantastic. I do 90% of my work on a single 3840x2400 monitor. I also have a 1920X1080 "above" that and angled down. I put terminals up there that I don't need to check very oft

I do like the idea of leaving behind an object that's not dangerous, it's just so incredibly heavy that it greatly inconveniences the enemy.

Were you making a very small amount then? You said you were in college 20 years ago. Did you start your career very late or do you want an very large salary before you have kids? I made $60K right out of college (far less than 20 years ago)
