Ran my first marathon! 10 weeks training, 0 injuries, had a fun Sunday morning jaunt around San Francisco.

Those three things are not supplied / needed in my experience. You can put your work experience on your resume, and if an employer wants to verify then you can supply a reference contact who can vouch for these things. When you do get

Something that worked for me: survey the parents that you know, and find the ones that seem like they are doing a good job and enjoying themselves. Then get a download of their system, write it down, ask questions, and form a plan. Don'

Kudos for keeping JIRA up to date. As I PM I am fine with that. If devs just kept JIRA a little up to date then it saves me and them the hassle of checking in on the status of things, I can just look it up.

Fair point - it is a theoretical rationale for punishment but not done in practice so I should have omitted it.

There are many reasons for punishment, like retribution, deterrence, and rehabilitation. Your proposal sorta makes sense on the retribution angle, but is grossly excessive for rehabilitation and deterrence. On the deterrence side, once some

If someone wants to reduce plastic in the world but doesn't change their own behavior then it is hard to take them seriously.

It is completely possible to orient purchases away from plastic. In fact if someone believes that plastic is bad then they should have some stake in it by making those decisions themselves. I went through reducing my plastic use myself, it

You are looking at reddit solely through the lens of politics. I do agree that it is not a great place for political debate. However, would you allow for the fact that setting aside USA national politics, there is a lot of value? I subscrib

I happen to be growing lettuce (and other things) in my office at work, and I can also attest to how easy it is. Only issue is that they need to be watered every other day.

Yes. The basic idea is that you cannot do via a trap what you couldn't do in person, which I think is sensible. If you are not allowed to shoot someone who merely sets foot on your property, then you are also not allowed to rig a shotg

Ah cool. I see the benefits of having a straight land tax. An issue with that is that the value of land can be hard to figure out and is easy to game. My ideal practical tax would be just a straight sales tax and nothing else. Income = Cons

It depends on who you ask I suppose. I think it is reasonable to have 0% tax on corporations if the other taxes were correct. An issue is that under that regime many corps would choose to never pay a dividend, so that would have to be fixed

That's a really pedantic interpretation :) It has been adopted and published, but enforcement starts May 25. Because nothing can actually happen until May 25, I think that is a more reasonable date to say that it is "active".

Comparing personal income tax rates to corporate tax rates doesn't really make sense. At the end of the chain, corporations are always owned by human beings, who must pay tax as well (albeit possibly in the form of capital gains or tax

It is possible that there is some other rule in place for that, but the GDPR isn't retroactive as far as I remember.

Just as an FYI it is not trivial for a small site to comply with the GDPR unless it is really simple, like a static web page with no cookies and no third party libraries or javascript.

It really depends on the child and what their interests are. In my experience open ended toys are better, like legos and wooden blocks, or sticks collected on nature walks. Avoid more linear toys.
