Former sonic.net customer here, then speakeasy, current teksavvy customer. Speakeasy just isn't in the ballpark, teksavvy is great service, but sonic.net was hands-down the best ISP I've ever had. This article makes me happy to read.

the first article you link (pot-in-pot) credits the same inventor as OP's article. In other words, while there may be historical evidence that the technique was used millenia ago, both articles credit the same man for re-introducing the pr

I have been using a galaxy tab 10.1 for the last two weeks, and flash was one of the first apps I installed. As the founder of a hybrid html/flash site, I have been sorely missing the opportunity to demo my work on a tablet - but I was ela

Not deprecated, but frowned upon. Youtube has more stable URIs than any link shortener, but by using an intermediary, there are now two opportunities for the link to die. If YouTube changes the URI, the shortened link will no longer work,

I have been pursuing a similar setup, but one of the last sticking points for me has been the absence of a VPN I could use on the road. I finally ended up with a satisfying solution based on openswan: https://github.com/iandennismiller/sw

If you're looking for something a little simpler, check out Xenadu for configuring and deploying cloud appliances. http://github.com/iandennismiller/xenadu For an example of Xenadu deploying an appliance to an EC2 instance, see Swandive:

I wrote Swandive because I really needed a VPN for the road. Even though OpenVPN is so easy to set up, it's not compatible with iOS devices, making it a non-starter. IPsec/L2TP are the standards-based way to do it, but it's much harder to

That's kindof where I am... it was unethical, but I don't really know what is illegal about what they did. However, I want to believe the courts aren't the only place where something like this gets sorted out. When someone does something

Use a VPN (openvpn), and attach sshd to your VPN subnet instead of using 0.0.0.0 or your publicly routable IP. This is also great for any other services you might want to administer remotely. It's normal to bind your database/cache to 127

You can still get this kind of literature from a library, though - especially university libraries. It's like how books aren't free, yet you can still read them for free by going to the library.

There is a difference between programming and engineering. I didn't take a software engineering course until after I graduated, but it was so worth it... It's one thing to solve a problem once it's in front of you, but it's another to make
