wait a second - the Digital Millennium _Copyright_ Act is enforceable for issues with the US Patent and Trademark office? All the same, your story is simultaneously cool and a shame. Good luck getting it back online!

It's not a question of how much AT&T has to lose, it's a question of what Apple has to gain. Here, yes, AT&T has something to lose if the app is allowed. Maybe it's not much, but it's something. What does Apple have to gain by deny

Since you mention it, the FCC just might call _you_ the criminal if you tried to modify your cisco box... :) I won't claim to understand what's cooking in the DoJ or the FTC, but from my armchair, it seems like there's at least an argument

On the one hand, I feel like Apple can probably hide behind the terms of its app store and be sufficiently safe from any consequences. In the short term. Especially given the "duplicating dialer functionality" argument, this sounds a lot l

WOW - I just installed Chrome for Intel OSX, and this is amazing. The performance in Firefox 3.5 was unplayable, while Safari 4 was much better, but Chrome is insane. I can't believe what I just witnessed: a playable javascript NES emulato

Just like TFA I booted Haiku in VirtualBox... Several years ago I ran the BeOS R5 livedisk, and while this is reminiscent, since I'm running in a virtual environment it falls short. Running BeOS on the metal was amazing - setting a thread

The goals of Dragonfly have been so interesting, but I hope this isn't another HURD situation (where HURD is also a really awesome project that progresses in babysteps).

This reminds me of the Perl Catalyst approach, which states that everything important already exists in CPAN, so the web framework just needs to provide a little glue to stick it together. In other words, there's massive reuse of CPAN compo

This video is great! The serious action starts at 21:25 when Henryk Plotz completely replicates an RFID card using his iPod. Definitely don't miss it!

There is a "share" widget next to the original article on the NY Times - you can repost the article to Facebook, etc, with the click of a button. I am ... confused ... by what the newspaper industry wants us to do with their content.
