I couldn't find any info on the privacy policy of this privacy tool. If I request an image of myself removed from public search, does Google use that image as reinforcement to internally help identify me in their ad algorithms? Think b

I forgot about dc! A NetBSD instance I have still has it. Love going back in time to these original utilities.

As long as you don't consider Play services bloatware, yes Pixel is quite clean. I'm still happy with a Pixel 5a. Camera is good enough even with that older model. I like Android though because compared to others I know with iPho

I have a VNET jail for remote access to my home lab. This takes an extra NIC I wasn't using anyway. It has been solid running on FreeBSD 13.2. This jail allows me to lock things down to minimal access to other services I need remotely,

Absolutely agree a VLAN is the better solution to block an entire network, and I do use one in my case (protecting my other VLANs). But I still need to explicitly block Amcrest cam because I also have an RPI on that VLAN doing image process

I recommend explicitly blocking internet access for Amcrest devices. I configured my camera with a static IP and blocked it in my PF rules with logging, and my camera model was making 1000s (16k in 24 hours) of DNS requests for config.amcre

I'm done with new cars. I have a 2016 VW Golf GTI, manual transmission, 3G telemetry already dead, minimal infotainment crap but good backup cam. Not for sale!

Used distcc back in mid-2000s to crosscompile NetBSD kernel/userland for a TS-7200 SBC ARM device. Back then those devices didn't have much processing power, would have taken days otherwise.

Is it realistic to expend what should be a tremendous amount of energy to put a massive cargo space vessel in (presumably) an orbit around a planet? And then expend energy again to escape and head back? Memory fades, so most likely better e

OpenBSD, with PF and Unbound, has excellent NAT64/DNS64 support. Unfortunately, my ISP is still IPv4, but with HE tunnel broker I can at least experiment with an IPv6 only VLAN. Works great on all clients I tested: Windows, Debian, and

HA provided a fix and broadcast the security issue reasonably effectively. Here we are discussing on HN. Good. The vulnerability boils down to having a port open to HA (direct or proxy) exposed to the internet, or if your LAN is already com

Still no details on how far those stolen vault backups went. I'd like to know which of my vault passwords over the years was included. I've since switched to 1password and rotated every (damn) password. That was an entire weekend

For those that took 'mother of mass extinctions' as click-bait, it refers to 'Permian–Triassic mass extinction'. It's amazing how resilient life is once it takes hold.
