Only slightly related, about I-90 generally: A parent of mine who grew up and lived most of their life on the East Coast, US, visited and we drove east across WA. At one point they could not wrap their head around the fact that we had been

LastPass is an enormous target, obviously. And, I guess, the inevitable has happened: Encrypted trove of passwords is "out there". Let's assume one's master password is strong. And that LastPass knows how to encrypt data

For Windows users: Install Windows Terminal and enable WSL. WSL or WSL2 are both fine (I use both). I have like 10 tmux sessions going in 2 or 3 tabs. It's a whole new level of CLI on a Windows box. Loving it.

I use both Pi-Hole on an RPI3 on a VLAN locked down for IoT devices, and OpenBSD + unbound(8) on my default network. Both options are great, and OpenBSD/unbound has been running just as easily. Here is a recent HN thread on this: http

My inner twenty-something and my not-twenty-something body will benefit from a report like this. I'm still reasonably athletic and those things look dang cool , but the pause a report like this gives is healthy. I also agree with othe

There was a time before this article when I put QNX on an old iPAQ Pocket PC. Back then (mid 2000s) it was strange to see a Unix OS running on a handheld device! EDIT: I think I found a link for it: https://eqip.openqnx.com/

I went a step further and unfollowed all individuals. I read Twitter about 1 or 2 times a week, in a browser. It starts to feel like what RSS was. It's reasonably useful to keep up on things this way. And I do "go play outside&quo

My VW GTI with 6 gear manual is such a joy. And what I fail to convey to my GenZ kids is the simplicity of it. Once I started the engine on a hill by engaging clutch. Kids were puzzled, but not so impressed. Oh well.

Regarding pets: I decided to give a cheaper Eufy RoboVac model a try a couple years ago to help keep things under control with a dog in the house. The maintenance on it to remove entangled dog hair was just too much in the end. Sure, manual
