The fediverse[0]. A federated network of ActivityPub instances; honk is one such implementation. [0]: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fediverse

He is. You should see his posts on fedi. He's also doubly cool for being an OpenBSD hacker.

Nobody said anything about sourcehut though.

It's not decentralized and they don't plan to decentralize it.

That was very hard to read, but cool attack nonetheless. Very trivial bug (user id one).

For those like me who preferred godoc.org (as opposed to pkg.go.dev), there's https://godocs.io , maintained by Drew DeVault. Runs the same backend (gddo) with all the Google-cruft removed.

Fosstodon, despite the name, is run by people who don't actually use free software. It's pretty funny.

Hah, I've lived in Bangalore for about ~20 years and I've never heard of this. Very fascinating.

Maybe don't call Earthly "free and open source" when it clearly is neither -- it is licensed under the Business Source License.

Don't simply parrot the same line. I used to believe that, until I recently checked the project out again -- they seem to have come a long way. It's pretty impressive.

Migadu is fantastic. No complaints. Their support is very responsive -- they even gave me a 50% student discount!

I don't see why this needed to be written in Rust, if all you're doing is shelling out to the docker command. Could've been a shell script, I guess.

Made the switch. I quite like the short cloaks: icy (znc@user/icy) Staff are a little overloaded, understandably. Nickserv works, so now's the time to grab that nick you couldn't get on Freenode!

It's a floating window manager that ... manages windows. As such, it can look wildly different, from config to config. Anyway, here's what mine looks like: https://i.arxius.io/14498fe6.png

If you're looking for something simpler, with a sane out-of-the-box config, consider OpenBSD's cwm(1) -- the calm window manager. A portable version for Linux/BSD is available at https://github.com/leahneukirc

I'm not entirely sure how to feel about the Flatpak-centric application ecosystem. Reminder: https://flatkill.org

I suppose it's in a way replaced by the notifications shade -- aggregates all messages. Let's be honest, most if not all notifs are from communication apps.

Honestly, I don't even bother "packaging" Python tools anymore. Just put it in all in a git repo, and pip can install using pip install git+https://myg.it/repo.git

Yup, was surprised to see no mention of Poetry. Hands down, the best package manager for Python.
