Surely people can have differing opinions without being intellectually dishonest, right?

That's a pretty fair question. In my opinion, the only reason to go with ASP.NET anything is if you already know C# (or any other .Net language). Otherwise, Rails, Django, Flask, Cake, etc are going to be significantly easier to get up to s

I agree with you completely regarding model changes; I hope it gets fixed in the next CTP (or beta if they're close enough). As to the generated UI, it's pretty similar to what you get with Rails scaffolding. I haven't spent a ton of time w

MVC3 + code-first from the EF4 CTP makes throwing together proof-of-concept apps very fast (and painless!). You don't have to do much besides design your models and you get a functioning site to start with.

Isn't that the definition of anecdote?

If we're comparing anecdotes, the smallest database I deal with on any given day is 50GB. Enterprise applications trap lots of data. I don't know that most of our queries are HDD bound, but a significant portion of them are.

What do the motivating factors behind Clojure have to do with anything? The CLR port appears to be fairly active (with regards to the amount of work going into it), and most of the libraries that are just shells over Java libraries can't be

This makes portability with Clojure-CLR a real problem. I don't think Clojure-CLR has much in the way of adoption right now, but it would be nice to use any Clojure library in any Clojure runtime, like you can with Ruby and all their runtim

As far as I know, that's totally fine (in that people do it all the time); I had made a comment that the number of upvotes in such a short amount of time seemed suspicious. Afterwards I discovered your twitter post and realized I was wrong.

Sorry, I deleted my post because I was being unfair. I did some poking around and saw that the application developer had posted on twitter asking for upvotes if people liked the application. http://twitter.com/#!/robhawkes/status/130401248

Someone here had a good way to do this (sorry, my google-fu is not strong enough to find the link): "What language do you use?" ".Net" "Oh, OK"

They're both available via apt on Ubuntu, which is nice. A few years ago, most people seemed to lean towards SBCL, but I'm not sure if there's much difference between the two these days.

SBCL or CLISP should work well for you - what operating system do you use? (Also, http://landoflisp.com/ might be a good way to get started with the language if you're still learning it. It's a far more enjoyable read as well.)

I don't think anyone pays list price for SQL server licenses. They're still not cheap, but the suggested prices are usually 10 to 20 percent high.

I'm sorry, but do you have some kind of source for the claim about recipients taking on personality traits from the donor? I know it's been the plot of a few movies, but I don't think I've ever heard someone suggest it was based in reality.
