Yeah, I mostly of agree with that and sort of said so in my post. Not sure it has much impact on my central point though. One really key difference with LINQ is that it doesn't produce arrays (or dictionaries, as in your example); it p

As someone whose last 8 years of professional work have been largely split between...C# and Ruby, I have to disagree. I do agree about C# being quite nice; it's all the things Java should be but isn't. And it's evolving qui

There's a difference between assuming something because it's prudent to do so and actually knowing it's true. And even if Schneier was extremely confident about it, he was still, in the minds of most people, just a paranoid g

Happy to be wrong about this, but I wouldn't think that thermal dissipation in the case would make the case less hot. Where does the heat go?

Alternative, admittedly uninformed hypothesis: the structure makes it lighter, which means the chord suspending it can be thinner, which makes it harder for ants to crawl down it.

You read some threads on HN about low-level details and they annoyed you, and so now you get to imply that I "just learned js/ruby yesterday and [am] afraid of low level details" because I used the words "OS" and &q

Parking minimums are subsidy towards car owners from non-car owners. Why do you believe you should receive that subsidy, instead of the developers being able to choose what to build based on demand? If you want a parking spot, you should pa

Also you can tell it whether you need it for a long drive or a short one, so it can know when to send you an electric car or an internal combustion car. Or whether you need a big car or a small one.

No, no, he really is mentally ill and he really did write an impressive-looking operating system [1]. Also the post quoted above really is packed with racist vitriol. Take all of that literally. [1] http://www.templeos.org/

This is basically what sjs said, but you're only allowed to build the building so tall (zoning rules often crazily restrictive about this). So if you put your parking above ground, you'd have to have fewer units.

I get that he's mentally ill (I read up on his OS the other day), but I do take exception to the repost of part of his comment. Because his comment is ridiculous. "Monkey" is meant as a racial slur. "American" is me

While I wholeheartedly agree with your reasoning here, I'd also like to ask why it would reasonable if it were, in fact, merely an inconvenience. Let's say, for example, that instead of the no-fly list, we had a hassle-me-extra-at
