Can someone explain why the "Quick Fix" even works? It seems like if having the DOM updates separated by one statement triggers two reflows, so would two consecutive updates. Or more generally, what does "batching DOM updates

Can someone explain why you'd would use this instead of LXC? Is it just that Google built this before LXC existed, or are there differences in what it's useful for or capable of?

I'm not so sure. There are only a handful of popular ad-blockers, and on most people's browsers, they update automatically. If PageFair's techniques can be defeated, they'll be defeated systematically and simultaneously

Counter-nitpick: A newspaper can be Arabic in that it's chiefly in Arabic; i.e. Arabic is also an adjective for describing things relating to the language. "Arab" is an ethnicity and an adjectival and demonym for a region.

Er, right. Reading back through the thread, I can see how that was confusing. My fault. As you've now surmised, I was just complaining about the military's special status vis-a-vis the shutdown, for which "that's a lot o

Risk is very explicitly directional. E.g. Wikipedia has it as: > Risk is the potential of loss (an undesirable outcome, however not necessarily so) resulting from a given action, activity and/or inaction When was the last time you

All the other jobs being furloughed are also jobs. Why not prioritize them instead? It seems crazy to say, "yeah, those people we hired because we actually want them to work should go unpaid first, and the people we hired just as a job
