It's set up as an external system anyway. You'd have to do extra work to hack it in. Otherwise, that is true.

It all depends on what your goal is. In health care applications? In financial applications? I would never trust anything less than fully acid with all the bells and whistles. In a website where people aren't going to be that bothered of a

I agree. However, it's more difficult to find gigs that are looking for consistent 20 hours a week, especially contracting for larger companies. If this is untrue, would you mind sharing your secrets for finding them?

First thought: your aunt is trolling you. Second (and more serious) thought: This speaks to the fear our elders have with computers. Many of us used this to help ourselves through college as technical repair, and Best Buy has done a good jo

The problem with this question is that there is a significant gap between pay rates for part time and full time work. I am a contract worker for a big company right now. They expect me to work 40 hours or more a week. If I could convert thi

Amazon is losing a lot of business in the GLBT community, historically a reliable demographic group in both online spending and books. (This actually wouldn't be so bad if they had been more forthcoming, and quickly made a statement apologi

Tying yourself to a warlord to whom you have just given a very unequal advantage is exactly the thing that can keep you alive in a circumstance such as this. Further, nothing wrong with "inventing" the assembly line. With this kind of overp

I had older classmates. I can't remember ever thinking of them as "losers." They were usually more interesting than the younger set. No, you won't end up in a fraternity. However, there are a surprising number of people who end up in school

HL7... what a nightmare! I remember having to work with it, and it was a convoluted solution where every provider and vendor had a different interpretation. As bad as 2.3.1 is, it's still worlds better than 3. The best thing that can happen

I don't know... I watch my Ph.D candidate boyfriend (in a non-science discipline, mind you) and it's close minus the coming in to the office bit. More time on facebook, less time on tetris. Update for 2009 as necessary.

Wait... you know PHP? Why not just use PHP? Really, it may not be popular with the HN crowd, but use what gets the job done. Have confidence in yourself, and get a prototype done. That will give you the experience you need.
