Costco also has market power to force better prices from its suppliers as well as decades of relationships with them and industry writ large. I’ve heard they’re employing someone to build lettuce growing capacity near certain logistics poin

In the US the congress has largely been stopped for a long time from doing any real checking on these things. Minimum wage could be increased. There’s investigations going into rental price fixing through industry wide software usage. Local

It’s also been a long time since the Trustbusting times of Theodore Roosevelt and the Great Depression reforms have largely been repealed. Congress absolutely could act if the political will was reflected at the ballot box. Elsewhere it’s b

Want to add, I, as someone with over 20 years of driving experience, do still periodically perform exercises in empty parking lots. It’s far better to be over humble in this than arrogant.

Possibly taking the time to mess around in an empty parking lot to learn the “size” of the vehicle and steering. And, in general, “leave the ego behind” as soon as you close the door of the vehicle. Your number 1 priority is never getting i

It seems like the financial calculus should budget for new content as a percentage of yearly subscription gross revenue. And it also seems none of them are doing that. (I could be wrong.)

I’ve long wondered whether peak traffic would benefit with lowered speed limits. It’s effectively the same when traffic clogs such that average speed is a crawl. Maybe setting speed lower from the get go would minimize odds of congestion mu

Scale registration cost by vehicle weight and size. Could similarly scale speeding tickets.

Agree. I could see this being a “do your business or get off the toilet” moment. One option is repurposing that real estate to better purposes, like residential or industrial depending on location. It would take significant amounts of inves

So you'd add a plan/project to do carbon capture on top of that? i.e. The proceeds from the tax would go into funding a CC project. I like it. It sounds like it could be done as a refundable tax credit. The tax credit would be wha

I thought you were going to point out that the world isn’t one singular civilization. Each country has its own unique civilization unto itself (both better and worse). The international stuff somewhat makes this feel redundant, but the diff

Personally, A phev has made a usual 90 mile trip anywhere from .5 gallon to 1.5 down from 3-4. While a 230 is 4-6 down from 10.5+ gallons. And the rest of the time electric. Makes a world of difference.

I feel like I'm seeing a widening sense of “this feels significant.” Lots of commentary on how things will play out from here. Highlights the impact of the moment. Might not be the end of a chapter, but an inflection point.

Feels more like angst at price gouging and other factors. We've got a 1.8B (or 1.6? Forget…) judgement against home realtors in one state. We've got legal action against rental firms colluding on price fixing in other jurisdiction

And here’s another thing. With how difficult it is to probe new physics, we stand to do a lot more research by simply inspecting all the observable universe than trying to build colliders.
