This skill is likely what enabled you to do consulting. Understanding and critiquing what your building is a really important part of being an engineer, but it's relatively rare - which is a shame.

Nobody, least of all your boss, will complain if you grow the companies revenue without significantly expanding on your cost base. I would suggest thinking of this as a challenge, see if you are up to it. Grow it in a way where your boss is

The underlying value of a company can diverge from its valuation. While obviously this happened when they pitched a $50bn valuation, it could also be happening here. IE Softbank thinks the value is way higher than 8Bn but forced a low valua

Another interesting one is illustrating "depth" of knowledge in a results page. For example, I type "Sagittarius A*". It would be nice to have the results grouped into depth. From initial general-audience explainer video

In my mind there are two flavours of queries. The first are those which are "ctrl f" in nature, ie I want to query the entire web to find string x. Which are obviously better suited to indexes. The second are more knowledge based

There is a bunch of free programs for startups too, global competitions that fly some startups to a nice destination to pitch. I get the feeling the main goal of these competitions is to hoover data on early stage companies and on-sell to V

Still in college, last year of a CS degree. My favorite year, my thesis was a space combat game altered to run on a P2P architecture. The highlight was an engineer from Havoc (who did the physics engine for half life) visiting to check out

Yeah but you don't book other peoples fees as your own revenue. VISA has a profit margin of 54%. Surely they are not counting the entire interchange cost (of which they receive a v. small percentage) as revenue.

I would have thought the opposite. Margins tend to be high in financial services, revenue tends to be tiny. The value of payments / GTV is huge, but the taxable component is the fees themselves?
