We’re writing and illustrating a digital zine on building LLM evals. It’s set in a world where forest creatures learn how to prompt the LLM shoggoth living in the canopy of their home. We wrote this zine for AI engineers that have heard of

The microfeature I like is when posts have the full date. Blog authors want their content to be evergreen so they try to exclude it. Context is essential for me to interpret the perspective, especially for technical content. I end up having

A tangential topic, but anyone have recommendations for proof-checking languages? Lean, Isabelle, Coq, Idris are the few I know about. I've only ever used Isabelle, but can't really tell the difference between them. Anyone here us

Reminds me of the Smalltalk IDE and browser. Also, WorldSim could use something like this, and perhaps web browsers. Anyway, I suspect this resonates for anyone that has to do research on the web or in GPT. I often end up with multiple thre

Yes. focus on one specific topic or field of study. Think of it like starting a fire. You want to get the core really hot first, before trying to burn other things. Hacker news used to be called Startup news, because all it did was talk abo

You need people talking about the papers. Because they're so dense, I'd focus on just one specific niche topic, and get people versed in that subfield talking about it on there. And start with just 5 papers for people to talk abou

Sometimes, we get paid to hit the high notes, even if we don't sing them all the time, or even every day. See sibling josephg comment on use in CRDT implementation.

I saw it felt nothing other than a morbid kind of "will it blend?". I think the ad is fine. It did its job. I mean, people are talking about it. They just can't use the same schtick again. But there's no need to apologiz

Ah, thanks for the explanation. Some quick follow ups: Oh, so an incremental hash function is where you don't have to hash the entire thing again, but you can use the combiner (xor) to "remove" the old_child.hash and "ad

I think rsync came first? In the original formulation of Prolly Trees, it does reference rsync. https://github.com/attic-labs/noms/blob/master/doc/intro.md#...

Can you comment more on how you use persistent tries with unicity? And what do you mean by "the other way around"? I can't speak to latency fully as of yet. But in my own incremental implementation of a Prolly Tree, it appear

Curious: What do you need something like that for? It sounds like some kind of synced backup of a dataset represented by files on S3? With what you describe, it kinda sounds like a Merkle-DAG CRDT. https://arxiv.org/pdf/
