Fire isn’t the hazard we need to be concerned about for Lithium-ion, it’s the destructive mining and the subsequent hazmat disposal that should be worrying everyone. The lithium mining companies are filing claims all over my county and the

A year ago, my wife and I moved from the Bay Area to rural Nevada. Within a week I found myself in some King of the Hill-esque group and now I stand around with neighbors drinking beers. I know basically everyone within 3 miles; back in the

Curious- do you live some place wet/humid? I was just noting to another reply that in the high desert where I am, we are normally <=15% humidity and sound doesn’t really carry much and the local explanation is the low moisture cont

That’s a good point. When I haven’t been into a city in a while, it’s always jarring. I suppose some of the acoustics are related to the sounds hitting buildings and doing the canyon effect. I live in the high desert and the incredibly dry

I’m glad I live in a rural area where we don’t need to worry about getting random tickets mailed to us.

I have diagnosed ADHD and I can waste just as much time on my amateur radio as the Internet. I guess we get a pass due to the technical neediness, but I spent 3 hours yesterday listening to static trying to hear a specific station…

Totally agree. The comment I was replying to asked "most important hardware announcement ever made by a tech firm?" and I was noting that in 1964 it was. That said, it's still a great read and I can imagine how cool it was :

I was a happy Wealthfront & Turbotax user for a long time, but then my taxes got more complicated, I wanted to create a family bank using life insurance as a backer, do estate planning, I moved between states, needed to move IRAs around

Maybe I didn't follow this correctly, but I thought it was implying the filtered power supply was improved audio of streamed audio. If so, how could an analog power supply have any impact on the bits in a digital audio stream?

Same here. I’ve heard this complaint a lot, but I’m very happy using it and don’t find anything horrid.

You may have arrived at this view due to lack of visibility on what WWV does. WWV also provides: - stable reference frequencies for maritime and aviation radio and also for terrestrial radio tuning - space weather alerting for radio system

This makes a lot of sense to me. I live in the Mojave Desert at about 3,000’ above sea level. The fall and spring transitions pose this exact risk. Today, for example, I’m looking at high of 80F but overnight we dropped to 39F and our humid

First- no such thing as “no risk”. The USB separation doesn’t matter. Once loaded into memory and running you have many ways in which a dangerous program can interact with the machine. The general way to handle this type of need is to use a

Probably just From: spoofing. You could add SPF/DMARC/DKIM to your domain to better handle email validation. It might be a good idea otherwise you’re liable to end up on email abuse lists.

I can’t tell you why this is the #2 story, but fortunately your comment is dead last so I’ve got some evidence the ranking algorithms are working appropriately.

Mine is doing a variation of this now. If I’m on a call, messages stop coming through but I’ll see them on my mobile. When I end the call, they still don’t come in until I restart the app!
