I generally agree with the view of keeping your application simple and not using big frameworks but after seeing so many PHP programmers write spaghetti and insecure code, I pretty much recommend frameworks now. You can say the problem is n

Elixir has optional typing though. You can type check with Erlang's Dialyzer.

I worked with both Go and Elixir but found Elixir and Phoenix better than Go for building backends for web services. I was more productive and all the awesomeness of Erlang VM made me choose Elixir. I would say give Elixir a try.

I work in a FinTech startup and most of our components are written in Elixir and are in production. We are very happy with it. So I would say atleast consider Elixir and Phoenix. It's as performant as Golang, it's even better in

I use Flask if it's an API or Django if it's a web app. These days I use Elixir and Phoenix for most serious web apps though but if it's a small side project, I would reach for Python since that's the language I am most
