Thinking about it, a lot of people stopped smoking right when smartphones became a thing. Smoking was not just about the smoke, but about the social circle it created. I wonder how deep the analogy goes.

Very interesting. Will these incentives create "100 millionaire" clubs? If a person knows he will have 110 millons, and know he will be tax 90% on the last 10 he can choose between a million for himself or 10 million for a person

It's been a few years since I investigated, but Boston dynamics was using mostly old non ML methods. See [1] IIRC and Waymo vehicles used ML for some of its perception but also depended heavily on the lidar and a rules based approach.
