How is stealing electronics and covid tests an act of desperation? They are not stealing food and hygiene products, right?

Do you think that transmitting your genes to future generations is bad? Is having a sense of purpose aka destiny bad? Not sure what you are trying to say here, apart from the fact that you don’t like the author of the article.

I agree. I don’t expect a hundred pages of text, but this “manifesto” fits into two tweets.

Me and my girlfriend invited a friend over for food and drinks. Had a midnight walk outside to enjoy the fireworks and surprisingly warm air. I’ve met new year all by myself once or twice before. Can say that for me it’s much better to have

Bitcoin is practically a consumer technology with youtube channels, tens of mobile apps and even bitcoin exchange machines in tech hubs. This is just a lazy excuse in 2021.

I think that Mozilla is harming Firefox much more with their decisions. Adding ads to address bar and sending metadata to unknown third parties alienated lots of users, I can’t blame them for looking for alternatives - or making one.

It's not even about your feeds. It's about your private messages. Crazy stuff, Gestapo and KGB wouldn't even dream of this level of surveillance of ordinary citizens.

Just letting you know that Czechoslovakia does not exist any more. A few decades ago it became Czech republic and Slovak republic. It’s fascinating to me how people don’t know this.

Not all of them, but that would slow down their hypnotizing ad-feed machine. Baby steps into this direction are way better than the metaverse bullshit that we'll see in a few years down the road IMO.

For me it's a huge red flag. Either the company doesn't test their devices on real users, or doesn't care.

It's like americans don't have sex with their coworkers or something. Is sleeping with younger colleagues morally wrong? Maybe. Is it news-worthy though?

I'd be much more interested if it was a mobile app. I already have native git client and text writing application on my desktop, I don't need a web page trying to replace both. However, a simple to use mobile client with first-cla

Just like Linux but with a broader software catalogue, more stable drivers and updates. You can also disable telemetry quite easily, if thats what you mean by “spyware”. YMMV, of course.

Honest question to HN readers: which Google apps are you using on iOS, and why? I’ve bit the bullet and ditched Google ecosystem last year, moving email to Fastmail, buying an iPhone and the like. The only Google app i still use is Maps - t

Talk about a clickbait title. Two hyper-technical features and support for an obscure image format. To be honest, as a faithful Firefox user, I'm very hesitant to update my browser. A few months ago FF rolled out an abysmal UI update o

How are those two entities separate? MS has a non-removable seat on board and gets to appoint the director. I'm sure that DNF is seen as division from inside MS.

It's not Sentry's job to ask users for consent, but the software developers. If you want to be mad - be mad at the people who are doing the truly shitty things with your data, not at the legitimate vendor.

There is an interesting inverse correlation of Mozilla CEO salary and amount of users Firefox has. I think it's normal to pay competitive salary too, but the salary should reflect one's impact on the company. Looking at the curren
