Wow, the people interviewed in this article are wildly out of touch. “What are we supposed to do, just have dirt around our house on four acres?” -- if there is a drought, then yes. there are other ways to landscape, and these people can af

China surpassing the US in military supremacy (very broadly defined) is a highly debatable statement.

This is almost universally true in hockey. Promising prospect makes the NHL, disappoints in his first season, hits the gym and packs on 20lbs, comes back and lights it up.

Part of the reason mosquitos get so out of control is because we've killed off all the bats, birds, and predatory insects that keep them in check.

Some days I look outside in my suburb and feel a sense of the surreal. It's a deeply unnatural and bizarre scene.

Indeed. We've brought this on ourselves, though, by pushing out predator species that eat the mice that carry the ticks and expanding their range with climate change.

It will decompose! Grass clippings are a bit different, I was referring to leaves and other debris. But grass clippings are amazing for compost.

Those are the displaced natives of our cities and suburbs. I get that no one wants mice around, but if that is the price for giving all the other species a home, I think it's worth it. I think it's fair to argue that this aspect o

Kids will enjoy anything. Playing hide and seek in a backyard jungle is just as fun as running around on grass, and for most people there is invariably a park nearby. And kids encountering critters and stinging insects is a part of growing

To "keep property values high." In today's market, at least, I seriously doubt the quality of a neighbour's lawn will have any significant impact on property values.

I am in the process of doing this. I would highly recommend starting with your backyard... because it's surprisingly difficult and it's better to make your mistakes out of view of the street. I've already noticed an increase

Since JIRA has already been thoroughly excoriated, I'll go with The Athletic. It used to have a brilliant, simple UI. Now, it takes forever to load and when I click, the UI will magically shift and I will end up clicking an ad.

There are other factors (why waste fuel/accident risk on commutes, easier to cook healthy lunches, et cetera), but those are the biggest ones for sure. It would be nice if we could have the hours debate out loud and for real.

I used to be a snob and say that I hated country music or whatever, but now I try and appreciate all the music I hear. There are definitely songs I don't like, and there are genres that tend to have a lower "hit" rate for me

Okay. Marineland has been the subject of many, many scandals and investigations (non-exhaustive, see Wikipedia for sources and a complete list): - illegally capturing dolphins - 15 premature orca deaths - 5 premature beluga deaths - the own

Marineland is a disgraceful blight on Niagara and the province of Ontario in general. It should have been shut down decades ago.

Unnecessary ad hominem aside, second hand items are just as likely to have been made by slaves as new ones. The point is that our marketplace is full of the products of slave labour and almost no reliable information about it.
