As if FB stock holders or C-suite (or even regular employees, come to think about it) do care about reputational damage. As long as it is a money-printing machine, they will not care one bit if they have to heat the headquarters with seal p

Does crypto do anything but cause troubles? If it's not actively destroying the environment, then it's endangering financial stability. How does the government not step in here?

Since having older kids, this is completely trashing my wake/sleep rhythm and starting to impact my work. I want some time to do the things I care about in my own time, damnit. I don't want to be externally structured all the time

I found the perfect balance to be very pro-active and resourceful at the beginning of a project, both to structure it in a way that suits me and make a good impression. Later, not so much. And I am not lazy, but being too active means other

I tend to downvote snarky, off-topic jokes here because I want this site to keep a high signal/noise ratio. If you visit the /r/science subreddit, you can see why. The comments used to be excellent, not they are full with lam

So do I, I would have preferred Lightning ports over USB-C. Unfortunately, Apple never plays nice and always has restrictive and money-making standards, so I guess they never tried to pitch it to the USB standards body. USB-C is a very capa

First off, I am not sure we need to improve on it in the short term. USB-A has existed for ~20y by now on the desktop and is still going strong. If USB-C lives as long, we'll get a break from having to buy different cables for quite so

It wasn't a non-issue till the EU stepped in. Every manufacturer had their own plug and some (eg. Nokia) even had more than one, of course they were incompatible. I'm grateful that the EU stepped up here. I feel for Apple's h

That's why the EU back then banged the heads of the manufacturers together to force them to come up with a common standard, instead of picking one and forcing it down their throat.

Not great, but better than I personally expected: "Inductive charging is not as efficient as direct charging [...] An analysis of energy use found that charging a Pixel 4 from 0 to 100 percent on a classic cable used 14.26 Wh (watt-hou

The real problem with the Framework laptop is that the ordinary consumer will not assemble their own laptop or upgrade it later. They will just go and buy a $500 cheap laptop with a 15" screen and if it breaks, buy a new generation.

This is exactly it. I do like MacOS more than Ubuntu (which I also use), and lately, customizability of Ubuntu has gone down too (As an old Mac-user, I want a menu bar, I actively dislike menus on each window) and the M1/M1X look real
