As a history amateur, it is painful to force myself never to probe into south indian history [of which I've heard so much, growing up there] simply because I've learned by experience that it only leads to frustration and disappointment at t

If you accept that facebook was worth $100 billion, and if you accept that instagram was a credible threat to facebook, then it follows that instagram was perhaps worth 1% of facebook. Reddit is not facebook's or google's threat so its valu

Marginally relevant story: A few months ago I was trying to get my siblings interested in "doing things with computers". I decided to do this by showing them how powerful a few lines of code could be. I had already tried to get them into pr

This article is a piece of uninteresting, content-free, gossipy garbage and I'm not sure why it was voted to the front page. This guy doesn't like Ballmer and he writes a book about it and that's news?

I'm a woman, this happens to me (not very often but that might be because I've worked in this industry only for two years) and whenever it does, I just say something horribly cold. One day I had a pretty watch on, and a male coworker said "

I was looking for more details, too. I don't mean that I suspect the OP of falsehood. It's simply that I'm a woman in a male-dominated field, and many people have asked me if I've ever faced prejudice at work, and I've always had to say no.
