It seems they copied AWS S3 too well , including its "feature" of going down every now and then and it's overall lack of reliability. Nice!

I don't know what is the big deal. It's as if these startups were in a Bachelor/Bachelorette style of competition and everybody but a few lost. It's not like the terms and conditions said the API would be there forever o

I hope I don't appear insensitive. I promise you it's not my intention. A joke in a movie (name is not important) had a character threatening to punish a person who was a developer by "cutting his hands." I started think

Actually, didn't we just see somewhere that your first name affected the possibility of getting an interview? Something along the lines of identical resumes, where names were stereotypical African names vs. stereotypical "American

Very good. However, I also remember that some things do affect the outcome. For example, there are studies that being tall or attractive provides some advantages, or that being short or bald provide some disadvantages in controlled experi

Maybe not to a lot of people. All you know is that some people were affected. But you are not accounting for all the people who were not affected. Yours is a common bias.

Very good point Spoom. I wonder which is worse: adversaries or corrupt organizations, or corrupt election officials / a tyrannic government. I think it depends on the ability you have to defend yourself against either, either as an ind

This reminded me of an idea somebody else had of publishing everybody's votes in a federal or state election to the web. Everybody would get a unique, secret key right after voting with your voting choices. The machine would publish th

Glad the OP is coming clean saying it's their fault, but calling bitly shady for doing what they said they were going to do for the money that they said they were going to charge (or not charge) seems like a low blow.

It's funny that the author associates variants of time to a culture or nation, instead of to an "environment" or "organization." In the US, I have been in companies where no meeting starts within 15-20 minutes of th

It's a fair question. I think a fanboy would have called out (listed) every single criticism in the thread, not just the ones I called out as not adding to the conversation, as defined by me somewhere else in this thread. I am looking

Your first comment ever as randomfool is below. Should we question your impartiality then? =================== I believe that Scott Jenson put it best in 'Why Mobile Apps Must Die'- http://vimeo.com/33692624 Watch

Not with all criticism. My point is that the comments I copy-pasted reflect criticism that a) generalizes a feature limitation into some sort of macro failure and not priorities or other design restrictions, b) shifts the bar because "

Can we agree to get over anything that happened in computing more than 10 years ago?

I only would like to point out that all the comments I copy-pasted are gross generalizations, unrelated to the main points in OP comments. You do have a fair "design process" question.

A product needs to ship at some point. You can't expect a product to be polished 100% free of limitations or defects for 100% of the scenarios.

I am going to assume your comment is in good faith. My observation was that a single glitch is seen as some sort of disaster, when in reality is a simple issue in one scenario that clearly was not prioritized over many other scenarios. Anyb

The issue is with the "fatalism" of the comments. For example, you refer to a "glaring failure" when this can be fixed with a simple "drawing mode" patch.
