You can run whatever client you want ...if it conforms to the design of the protocol. you wouldn’t be able to replicate a chain of blocks with the same order of magnitude of work behind them ...I grant you that, but does it matter? If the

The consensus protocol doesn’t help in removing either of these trust requirements? If I own the mechanism of root node discovery, I can mount an effective Sybil attack against a new network participant. The history of Bitcoin is full of h

These schemes always remind of Paddy’s Bucks from Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia. They are a monetary solution sent in to fight financial problems. The solution to those problems usually lies outside issuing your own money; it instead com

In economics the word inflation refers to the rate of change in the buying power of a currency. What you’re talking about is the money supply (I guess the Bitcoin equivalent of M2) which in Bitcoin is for some reason increased at a hard c

Except you have to trust lots of people for Bitcoin to work, from DNS record holders to developers to intermediaries and beyond. The whole system is dripping with trust, so why not just use standard currencies?

It’s so crazy that it might just be completely crazy. Behaviour that is grounds for an investigation by shareholders. In a world where the governments can’t support their own currencies, nobody will give a shit about Bitcoin. “I don’t trust

Can you think of another mainstream video calling software that’s as good as Zoom, for consumers? FaceTime, circa 2010. Styluses to capacitive touch. Taxis to Ubers. Torrents to Netflix. MP3s to Spotify Since when were torrents, MP3s, a

PCs have gotten a lot faster in the last 10 years. Not 10x every three years better, but significantly better. The high end PC of 2020 would crush the high end PC of 2010.
