Having a type system to figure this out for us would be great, but there are languages where this may not be possible. As far as I know, Typescript is one such example, isn't it?

That setup sounds realistic, and I think the general idea is for the company (and other employees) to give employees what they want and recognize how they want to work. If someone prefers working at the office, it would be terrible to force
