Material cost of houses is already 'cheap'. But you also need a place to build it. In The Netherlands ground prices range from $100 - $500 per m². Then you need sewage, electricity, gas, labor, and so on. I don't think you co

I don't think this is shocking. A lot of painter do something like this because it's somehow easier to draw the form of skulls than the form of a face. So the skull is there as a framework for painting the face. There are also a l

In my experience some small rules can help to grow towards DDD. For example when the team starts to use immutable model objects everybody is forced to think in a more domain driven way because what happens at the model constuction becomes v

I'm not sure what you mean with pro tool. All those vague concepts kept me away from learning rails because it always felt it was hacked together. There are also a lot of PHP frameworks that have this pro status because they are hard t

Talking about Blender: I think that the way windows work in Blender could make a great OS window manager. Devide the panels the way you like and select a program or part of a program you like to show inside the panel. There are window manag

JavaScript is a single-threaded, prototype-based language with no real concept of scoped variables and the like. Is this true? Webworkers is a multithread concept and as far as I know all variables are scoped but maybe not like they are i

Does anyone know an example of the lens effects Vermeer painted? I know a painter who paints depth of field from pictures he takes. But the lens effects of Vermeer are unknown to me.

Imho it's much simpler than PG explains. If we feel more or if we feel less than someone else we create separation. Ofcourse there are forces that stimulate this separation (like PG says) but in the end it's just us. The solution

I very much agree because in the end the only validation seems to be "does it contain a @ character somewhere in the middle". For example: example@localhost is valid but is refused by most validators.

Clients/designers want apps. Users want information. The trend today is that sites are crashing my up-to-date Firefox browser[1] because they need a ton of Javascript to get the layout right. I don't mind a fancy site but just let
