I always like the book The Incredible Secret Money Machine very much. The first rule for making money: never do it for the money. A free download is available: http://www.tinaja.com/ebooks/ismm.pdf

Well, John Carmack was impressed by the results of Brigade. And I think Otoy is a company to watch when it comes to VR and 3D. https://home.otoy.com/render/brigade/

For me it's Blender. - Starts in a sec. - API is the program, the GUI just an interface. - Free but very professional - Shortcuts are ergonomic.

People who can enter a back door: 1. people with a key 2. people with the skill to open the door (burglar) It's strange the UK thinks number 2 will never happen.

My first thought was that maybe breaker waves cleaned up the found parts just like in tumble cleaners.

Of course the Kinect does not offer such precision. But what about other pro hand held scanner? HandySCAN, Polhemus, Artec, all 3D scanner brands with a very good resolution. But then again it seems very unlikely that they took the time to

Cleaning a wound hurts but is necessary for the healing process. But it can be very difficult to know how to clean the wound. I think the most important lesson from this article is to always acknowledge a wound exsists and that a CEO is alw

It's also nice to check out CUDA if you have a Nvidia card. You can run parts of your code very easy on the GPU gaining a lot of speed.

This is absolutely the power of Arduino. I've got zero knowledge of chips but can buy an Arduino, a CNC shield and some stepper drivers. Press them together and suddenly I got a working CNC machine.

Agree. I bought a better than Arduino clone for $5. The Chinese even sell cheaper ones but you must have some luck with the soldering.

Very cool (note that you can place the light and drag it's direction)! One thing I noticed is that this visualizes how dangerous laser light can be. A lot of DIY projects these days use lasers (SLA printers, Laser cutters). You can

Agreed. I had to create a 'modern' design website for a client with all the fullscreen images included. I hate those websites but had to do the job. So I decided to do it all myself. And guess what: 80% compression for a fullscree

We used to drill holes in a 720K floppy so it would advertise itself as a 1.44MB drive. But in the end it's all about the density of the disk so I'm not sure if you could use a driver to store more data. Also you will need very ac

This is all great but one thing bothers me: they still apply to some government requests to give some data [1]. I know that adding a backdoor is different, but why not also protect for example emails on a server? http://www.apple

Risk is also what raises prices: - We are going to fine you if you don't deliver on time - Ok, but then we have to tripple our price

If you like this I can recommend you to look into the raw audio format [1]. It is a very simple format but it helped me a lot to learn about digital audio. Just take your fav programming language (I took PHP) and write some bits to a file:

Exactly my first reaction. At the moment we get hundreds of Locky mails per day. There is a huge spike in ransomware at the moment. And all ransom has to be paid via a tor location.

Take off the HN glasses and PHP, Java, C# and loads of other 'old' languages are still huge. As for Python: I think it is starting to grow again in the Linux world.
