Thanks, worked very simple and fast. Great that you published this for free on the app store. One small feature request: it would be useful to change between metric/imperial measurements. I don't live in the US and don't now

Probably the most famous example of this genre is James Ferraro's "Far Side Virtual", which can be listened to in its entirety here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pd-uSm8ittU

I've seen it happen more than once that web devs create a website that's very performant, only to be maimed and slowed down to a crawl by the marketing department's trackers and ads...

This is a piece created by the Amsterdam-based Studio Moniker. They have many more projects that play with the same ideas, see here: https://studiomoniker.com/projects

Excellent resource! I really like the fact that everything is centred around the idea of just a single 'PutPixel' function. Makes things much more approachable. I've took the liberty of rewriting the 'Perspective project

Yeah, this is an unfortunate consequence of having the whole ecosystem mostly within academia, including the lack of tutorials and proper documentation (e.g. not a 500 page standard). IMO the most interesting place right now for semantic we

I'm not arguing that the data is inferior (because it's definitely not, the sourcing is properly done like you mentioned), just that any large import of so many data items (whether it is about streets, academic papers or people) w

I think there's something to be said for putting this data in their own Wikibase instance. There are a lot of items here, including many items like 'Inventory of person X in year Y'. Adding so many items to Wikidata would n

As a language i enjoy Python and Javascript a lot more than PHP. Especially the major PHP frameworks and libraries tend to be too complicated and Java-esque for my liking. There are some nice simpler alternatives, but they tend to get aband

I think this is a good comparison, and exactly shows the problem: Vim is only used by a minority of developers, the majority use some kind of graphical editor (like VS Code). That doesn't mean learning Vim isn't a good tradeoff, i

I guess you can get the hang of Gerrit, but i tried it out a couple of times (i occasionally do work on projects in the Wikimedia git repo) and is pretty evident that the interface is written by developers with little knowledge of user expe

+1. It's amazing what you can do with Vega(Lite) and/or Altair in little time. But once you want to build something that performs on the web you really need to rewrite things using another library, like D3.

Yeah, it's a miracle the original even survived, given that it was used as a stable, stones were thrown at it and the convent was bombed during the war. The 'Damage and restoration' section of the Wikipedia article is almost

That's probably because this is not the original, but a contemporary copy. There are no halos visible on this high resolution image of the original. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/48
