You are. This isn't ment to be a completely realistic project ready to be shipped, it's a glimpse of the future, or maybe an art project. I think it's wonderful to see out-of-the-box stuff like this appearing on Hacker News.

Impressive! I was blown away by the fact that you don't need callbacks and events for the DB operations. Can't wait to dig in the code and see how you guys managed to make that work :)

Agree with 1). Might be a matter of taste, but jQuery does this as well with many methods (e.g. $.on).

Maybe it would be an idea to state that clearly in the readme on Github? I guess it's probably obvious for people who know memcache, but for a frontend developer the library seems like a general localStorage wrapper. Your library deserves m

What does this library offer over just using localStorage without a library? The browser API is already really easy, and with no fallbacks for IE<9 i don't really see any advantage in using this...

I don't really get why you would need a createNew() method in this setup. Why not simply have a function that returns an object? function Cat() { var private; function meow() { alert('meow'); } return { meow : me

I was actually rather surprised when switching from Google Code to Github that they didn't have a license option. Especially if you need code for a business licenses are pretty crucial. I don't like this idea however. It's too general. I wo

Eich is not just the inventor of Javascript, he's also the CTO of an organization that prides itself on being open and tolerant. I really can't support an organization where the CTO supports bills that cause the opposite.

I love my Macbook Pro 13". I really like the form factor: it's not too big and not too small. I would really like to have a Macbook Air, but unfortunately the small HD space and lack of an optical drive and firewire port are dealbreakers to

It's nice that somebody like Crockford writes an article like this, telling us how to actually use the new syntax. The original ES Wiki article is probably great for browser vendors but i didn't quite get it the first time i read it.

Imagine loading that on a mobile device, where something like that could easily take a few seconds. That's another reason why you really don't want to use jQuery on mobile.

Hmm.. how do you get sound effects working 'pretty well' in iOS? Apart from the latency the big problem is that you always need a user action (such as a click on a button) for sound to start (1), which is pretty hard for games. [1] http://

Really cool as a proof of concept on what can be done with just HTML5. Of course it's not a complete replacement for the native app. Not everything can be done using HTML, such as the pull to create a new task. For that you probably would h

Sure IE7 has problems, but they are well known problems at this point. An experienced web designer should know how to deal with them to give IE7 users a degraded but functional experience. True for most CSS bugs, but if you're doing lots
