I spent five years in this space (in a small consultancy that was acquired by GlobalLogic last year). I think this is how one of our salespeople might describe the process. The reality tends to be somewhat messier. I especially disagree wit

That's a pity for Stack Overflow, but I don't blame him one bit. Also: I recognized the name immediately because gman helped me out with a WebGL question* last year. * https://stackoverflow.com/questions/62784

This is surprising to hear. I only tried Budgie recently but I found it more responsive and reliable than previous window managers (xfce, mate). This includes workplace switching which I use extensively.

I just moved my home desktop from Manjaro XFCE -> Ubuntu Budgie and it's significantly snappier. I don't say "faster" because I didn't do any before/after quantitative benchmarks, but my experience has bee

Clearly I don't know HN's formatting very well. I should have made the top level a link and the post an explanation.

Thanks! And that's great feedback. We built it mobile-first, for touch controls, and added clicking just to make it feel natural on a PC. Moving backwards when clicking on the previous card makes perfect sense & I'll add it to

The Linux desktop experience is sufficiently hardware-dependent to make single-sample distro comparisons useless. As a counter-example, I recently installed Manjaro (Arch-based) over Pop OS because Pop was slow and buggy on my relatively hi

It's surely debatable, but Valve's $999 outside-in (lighthouse) wired unit is about two generations behind the Quest 2 (closer to the Rift). I believe $300 inside-out tracking wireless headsets are much more likely to push VR out
