Very cool and probably a fun exercise, but I would probably put the data on a ZFS volume with dedupe instead, which from reading this implementation is pretty much the same thing to my layman’s perspective. I could also add compression to t

That’s terrific, quite inspiring! A couple of questions, if that is okay; How much did all of it run you down in the end? How do you recharge the battery? Did you consider adding a USB-C charge port somewhere? How much does it cost you

Very nice to hear, I will follow your project. One of the projects I was thinking about is financial systems used by government actors such as correctional services. For these customers there’s strong legal requirements for data handling s

Looks cool however I don’t like that it needs to be setup with a super-user and that it’s limited to your three predetermined access roles. I have a project in mind where this tool could be useful but everything is built with row level secu

Haha I thought the same so your post actually inspired me to start one: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34989904 Ran out of ChatGPT requests so I’ll have to continue with more posts later if people enjoy the satire.

I’ve used the next export based approach on quite a few projects and agree with previous commenters, next takes care of a lot of the boring stuff when setting up a new project and the routing feels refreshingly out of the way compared to ma

Ah, I haven't noticed much difference between my 27" iMac and my LG 5k UF's (there's a little), and been tempted to get the XDR, mainly because I was hoping for even better and bigger panel than the 5k ones. With your co

Sure, if I were to buy one today I'd go for the new one no doubt, especially since the UF isn't for sale anymore. But I'd hardly "upgrade" from a UF.

I’ve had 5 ultra fines since they were released in 2016/15ish, both 3x4k 21.5”, and now 2x5k 27”. Never experienced any issues, build quality is quite high in my opinion and the stand is surprisingly solid, much better then my Dell Ult

Inch is diagonal so a 17” 16:9 would be to wide. Unless I’m thinking wrong we’d need something at (sqrt(17)*(16^2+9^2)/(16^2+10^2))^2, which should put us at 15.23”, I know 15,4” exists so that might be doable depending on how much ro

Found this in my GitHub feed today, looks like an interesting alternative to isort. If nothing else it's fun to see some new ideas. Looks a bit more opinionated (explicitly states configuration as a Non Goal) than isort. Seems to focus
