It is great that you posted this here. This is a big discussion that we will have in the following years.Obviously we have to find the right model for public universities. Clearly the MOOC classes can provide a lot of benefits. But we also

I get your point. I (half kidding) wish my mother had told me "you'll never find a nice woman if you're working in a basement with a bunch of disgusting nerds". I am proud to be an engineer. But sometimes we fail to cultivate an image that

Thanks for the link. I loved this quote. Seeing the world through the lens of Bayes’ Theorem is like seeing The Matrix. Nothing is the same after you have seen Bayes.

MVC comes from the Smalltalk world. http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?ModelViewControllerHistory But it is quite different from web MVC that was popular with web frameworks like Struts. I haven't looked at the more recent javascript frameworks, but

I think once a country reaches a stable population, you can implement free immigration. You could have multi country treaties where for every person that is allowed in another country you could have one person get in. That would keep flows

There seems to be an implicit assumption that every body wants to emigrate to the US. I don't that is true. If given the choice a lot of people would choose to stay. Sure, you can have more material things, but you will have to go to a stra

Guys, I was watching the marathon about a mile from the finish line. I saw how a great celebration turned into sadness and fear. But as sad as this made me feel, it made me feel even worst that this is what my loved family is living in Mexi

Can anyone recommend a good reference for dumbbells training with compound/functional movements? Something like this but with better explanations. http://www.mensfitness.com/training/build-muscle/dumbbell-wo...

I think the recommendation of using Dumbbells first is to have a less expensive home gym before making the commitment to buy more expensive equipment.

For every good idea you are going to have several competing products. Furthermore, the fact that somebody else is trying the same thing should be validation that your idea is good. Now, you don't seem too convinced that you can compete. Tha

Very insightful. I have finished six coursera/udacity classes so far. The last one felt really hard, not because of the material or the teacher. I wasn't really interested in the subject. It was something that I thought it would be good and

It is interesting, I have heard several times the comment about svn branches being expensive. But, that is not true, they are checking out the whole branches directory!

Are you checking out all the branches? I mean the actual branches subdirectory? If you do that, it is going to be expensive. But you shouldn't do that. Just checkout the trunk and switch to branches as needed.
