It’s definitely a legend. The amount of usable power you can extract from a radio signal is minuscule even fairly close to a transmitter. The incident radiation on his property was definitely nowhere even near watts let alone hundreds of

It was a love hate relationship with me. I had an intel MacBook Pro and hated it for a couple of years. So went and got a Ryzen based T495 thinkpad. This was pretty good but I got seduced by the M1 so jumped in. I had three major issues wit

You’re probably right for synthetic benchmarks. But none of my workloads work on macOS. So the point is moot. I did have an M1 MBA and mini until recently for reference.

I just ssh into my desktop if I need more grunt. That’s a lot faster than an M1.

This. Same with my ex wife. I’m now looking after the kids and have a full time job so there’s no option to take a flight or even go into the office.

The cheap gigabyte cards are fine. I’ve got a bottom end 1660 and it has been good. But I only use the stock nvidia drivers with it. Just the power supplies are dog crap.

I got screwed by Sony for a smart TV that was abandoned within a year. Then none of the streaming sticks worked on it due to HDCP compability issues. In the end I bought a broken Samsung 32" 1080p mostly dumb TV on ebay for £0.99, fixe

They're fucking shit. I've had to replace once twice here and it's less than 50% of the stated load. There's a Be Quiet unit in there now like the rest of the PCs in my place.

Yes this. Life is getting progressively better now Twitter, Reddit and Apple pissed me off. I’ve got more time, money and a healthier outlook on life. Now if only I could shake HN.

I believe the low quality low hanging fruits of my life are being slowly squeezed out by stupid corporate and government policies. But it’s a glass half full for those aware and able to see it for what it is. The end game is me sitting unde

It is but that assumes that the ops guys who are using it actually keep it up to date which is why we no longer use it. Always the human factors that kill something.

They’re not that good. I just put a ryzen desktop together which runs rings around my old M1. The killer is that I can no longer lug it to Costa.

Yeah we sold out our entire component manufacturing operations here to Philips in the past who then sold it on to the Chinese. Same with ARM and SoftBank. We needed to retain this stuff about 40 years ago.

I’ve already left. They doubled down on it straight away. Then wheeled out Craig to tell us lies. They’re not on my side. I don’t have to be their customer. The dangerous part is they have advertised this capability. Now regimes may make th

It's really not. The cost of production was too high compared to other markets which reduced demand. Which is exactly what happens with all government projects.

Don’t sweat it. We used to have to go to the library or book shop to do that and buy CDs which was a pain in the ass and expensive. I’d rather be an internet addict than go back to those days.
