Yeah it’s just being a nuisance for the sake of it. There was one who lived over the road from me a few years back who would rev his broken exhaust bike at 5am and wake everyone up. About three weeks later his motorcycle mysteriously caught

It’s cheaper for us to bring our own staff and licenses than pay for RDS at our scale :)

For me, reliability. Literally I have to futz with it so often. I moved from a Mac recently to a T495 thinkpad with Radeon in it which is supposedly fully supported by Ubuntu. Turns out that depends on what day of the week it is. Constant

Yep that. Lambda is a massive win for me personally. I have some scraping and processing stuff that runs daily. Costs me $0.60 a month to run it even outside of free tier which is less than a cheap DO or linode box and I don’t have to look

Biggest mistake I’ve made: Shifting any non trivial infrastructure into AWS verbatim is always more expensive than running it yourself. You need to rearchitect it carefully around the PaaS services to make a cost saving or even break even.

Nah they will badger you with adverts to navigate to a third party payment service which is nigh on impossible to cancel your accidental $3 trial purchase which goes up to $30 a month after three months. I remember what this was like before

Yeah. By the time you have woken up and read your billing alert email it’s too late. However the reason it doesn’t exist I suspect is twofold. Firstly because it is bad business. All the cloud providers make a lot of money from mistakes and

I made a joke to a colleague about 20 years ago that they’d rewrite vim in JavaScript one day. It’s no longer funny. Edit: comment retracted. I am an idiot. Left here because I’m not a revisionist.

To clarify a point on the latter, it’s a temporal thing. I used to be a proponent so there’s no Puritanism here. In my 20s I knew people who used it. I used it myself occasionally. Hell I even dated a dealer once. No problems. Pro legalisat

That’s because you can’t have a rational discussion about cannabis online. Anything negative is dismissed, apologised away, compared immediately to alcohol or you are accused of providing anecdotes by the proponents. This in itself dismisse

Unfortunately as a k8s user in the real world every container is slightly different and has numerous hacks in it to make it compatible with k8s in some way or another. So no.

I am in my late 40s. Most of the proponents are a lot younger. They haven’t seen the impact it has on them until they get older. That’s not bias. As for other points I’m an atheist with zero religious values at all. I have used it myself as

But statistically the number of people who don’t know is enough to cause untold despair, injury, death and sadness. So fuck anyone for having the self propelled arrogance to make that decision on behalf of victims.
