On a two-year contract, the difference between a $199 iPhone and a $99 iPhone is, what, five percent?

I use voice control on my iPod touch when I'm driving with it hooked up to my stereo. That's the killer use case for voice control as far as I'm concerned. It works about half the time. "Play Machine Gun Fellatio" *"BING! Playing songs by M

Prepaid doesn't have to mean cheap. From my point of view, I don't care if it's cheap. I just want it contract-free. I'll happily pay the full unsubsidized cost of the iPhone, provided it's unlocked and I can waltz up to any mobile provid

Get a prepaid. I paid $200 for an LG Androidy thing (an Optimus V, if anyone really cares) and now I pay $25 a month for 300 minutes per month and unlimited data. It's a crazy better deal than anything else out there.

I'd like to take a yoga course which focused on strength and flexibility, without all the hippie mystical BS that seems to infect most of the yoga I've seen.

"Rational markets", eh? Does that mean that you should be forced to sell things for a price lower than you're willing to accept, or that you should be forced to buy things for a price higher than you're willing to pay?

You're making economics sound like a religion rather than a science, there. If Keynesian economics hasn't worked in the US, then there's two possibilities: 1. It was too small or wrongly applied, or 2. Keynesian economics doesn't really wor

An interesting question (disclaimer: for intellectual interest only, of course, if the police ever are actually chasing you the only right and smart thing to do is to pull over before somebody gets hurt). Assuming they really want you f

I know it's not exactly the main point of the post, but I'm curious about the diet. Eggs for breakfast every morning -- just eggs? Tuna for lunch every day -- just tuna? How much of each? How do you cook the eggs? Does your body eventually

School is a social experience as well. Children get along best with children of their own age, and sticking precocious six-year-olds and dumb-as-dishwater thirteen-year-olds in the same classroom is just asking for trouble. We should arrang

Perhaps "short shrift" is the wrong way to argue it, then. It's not that we should separate the smart children because that's what's best for them , but that we should separate the smart children because that's what's best for society.

Yeah, but once you relax that rule you'll wind up devaluing, pretty quickly, the Nobel Prize. If every one of those 24 authors can equally claim to be a Nobel Prize winner on their CVs, then you've just significantly increased the number of

An experiment like that proves nothing if it's being undertaken by somebody who starts out with the agenda of proving how damn hard it is to survive on minimum wage. It's far too easy to make deliberately stupid decisions, like the $40 belt
