Right, they only want to sail them in the pretty places during vacations (Italy in the summer, Bahamas in the winter, etc). They don't want to be stuck on the things for the boring weeks crossing the Atlantic.

>not people who are actually doing anything. Surely you can come up with something more substantial than that? It's not 2009 anymore, that kind of intellectually lazy wallstreet bashing doesn't do much.

Any bunker builders with a brain also stash things of value like gold, ammo, and food. Being in possession of those things is what will make them valuable.

The poor in cities (e.g. New York City) will be no better off than the rich. They know as little about survival without civilization infrastructure as the rich. This isn't like the homesteading days. Most of the poor still buy food fro

The information many hft players operate on has nothing to do with the market in question.

Hft does provide a service: taking on financial risk. This is a hard concept for people not in finance to understand, but think of it like insurance if that helps you.

Right, but I'm suggesting that the odds of lighting the atmosphere on fire were calculated to be much lower than 1 in 10, but there just wasn't a 'simple English' category to distinguish them. So I wouldn't get scar

Put 5k in an HSA. If you're lower middle, you should be able to achieve this in a year (remember it's pretax). If you can't make it work, you are either wasting money somewhere significant (e.g. housing costing more than 25%

Attack the facts or logic, not the source. Ad homs are just excuses to convince people already on your side to shut off their brains and bury their heads in the sand.

You can't retire. It's okay for companies because when they run out of money they just die.

0 in 10 is still "no more than 1 in 10", so I don't see why that's scary.

Yes, they are taking on risks by making these trades. Do insurance companies 'earn' money? Do bail bondsmen 'earn' money? Does a retirement account 'earn' money?

It's a lack of empathy when they vote to end coal miner jobs without having job replacement though (which is exactly what Hillary promised for example). It's the same with people on the right with this immigration issue. They care

Well except nat doesn't work and the ipv4 internet (which is the vast majority of it) is broken. I wouldn't call the vast majority of the internet something without value.

Pretending a market doesn't exist by forming cartels isn't the answer either. You can't vote in your small local city to tax 100% of the profits of a local company and force them to stay.
