How is Go structurally similar to TypeScript? It doesn't even have advanced generics like TypeScript, nor union types. No classes and no heritance either. Unless you have a source, I'd say that's a very debatable speculation

Go can do just as well in tooling. Microsoft chose Go for tsc rewrite. https://devblogs.microsoft.com/typescript/typescript-native-... And then there's esbuild, also in Go, which revolutionized web bundling speed

You'll also need a Mac computer for the happy path so it's more than $100/year.

I love Caddy and it's fast enough. But it's not the fastest. nginx is generally faster for example. So I can't agree.

I beg to differ. Rust async implementation is contentious and criticized often. Sometimes you just miss the mark despite pondering about it for a while. Same with Go.

It was already horrible devex 40 years ago when turbo pascal could compile millions of lines almost instantly with a processor that was slower than my current watch processor.

I could reply with skill issue. But a more constructive comment would be to use AI to auto-complete, in the same line, what you would have to type anyway. Not as a way to produce large swaths of code.

You still type most of your code? AI solved my issues with carpal tunnel. And when I'm feeling fancy, I don't even type, just command AI by voice. "handle error case".

selenium helped my team so much back in the days. Thank you for it! We had a complex user registration workflow that supported multiple nationalities and languages in a international bank website. I setup selenium tests to detect breakages

should be disabled by default. Or present a big warning before enabling. I often set secret tokens as env variables, even if temporarily when running commands. There's no way I'm touching warp with a ten foot pole after that.

People use Laravel Collections or similar Symfony array wrapper to achieve chaining. Most PHP code I see look like your Ruby example.

Yeah I don't remember last time I saw PHP segfault. And I have clients that easily sum billion+ requests per month in PHP alone.

My main gripe with TypeScript (and node/JS) on the backend, is that it's not trivial to scale horizontally. You start node and it's a single event loop. Most people will tell you to use pm2 to start copies of the server. Well
